My Story

MEET JIMMY NICHOLSON, MSc, CSCS, RKC, TPI F2

From losing 50lbs as a young adult, then overcoming 8 years of chronic pain after a car accident, to switching positions in hockey and training to become an entirely different athlete, Jimmy’s overall experiences makes him a unique coach who can relate to any client that he works with.

Jimmy is also knowledgeable in women's health and fitness, and is aspiring to be the go-to fitness professional for helping women navigate specific challenges in different stages of life.

Since 2011, Jimmy has been fortunate to learn from and work closely with many top professionals in the fitness industry. He’s made it his lifelong passion to build a like-minded team that can help as many people as possible in his hometown and the Peace Country.

$200,000 and Counting

Jimmy spent most of his 20's living in chronic pain after suffering injuries to his spine from a car accident. He had tried everything from chiropractic care, massage therapy, and acupuncture to physiotherapy, and one specialist after the other. Most treatments were helpful, but only provided short-term relief. After 18 months of weekly treatments and physio appointments, the root cause of his pain was never identified.

Jimmy's health coverage claim was cut short by the defendant's lawyers, so it was up to Jimmy to seek additional help outside of traditional health care. His rehabilitation process and overall experience up to this point inspired a passion in him to learn about the human body so that he could help himself overcome living in chronic pain.

Jimmy hired his 1st personal trainer, Travis Peetz, and working with him helped provide Jimmy with the most pain relief. Jimmy's future path and passion to become a fitness professional began once he realized how much progress he was making. From not being able to swing a golf club to being recruited to play university golf the following year, Jimmy was finally on a better path.

Finding Better Solutions

In 2015, Jimmy was introduced to the concepts of Functional Anatomy, which were foreign to him. Functional anatomy helps to highlight the various ways that all muscles and joints in the body are connected, and therefore, influence one another. Jimmy's philosophy on health & fitness was then shifted to look "outside of the box" instead of what's always been done.

Reflecting back on his 18 months of treatment and physiotherapy, every person had been focusing on isolated areas. For the next several years, most of the people Jimmy received treatment from also focused on treating the site of pain in an isolated manner. The culprits causing the pain never screamed louder than the victims aka the root cause of pain.

Fast forward to 2021--9 years after his car accident, Jimmy was still struggling with pain that would come and go. At this point in his life, he felt that there was no hope in living pain free, and he wasn't even 30 years old. Dr. Tracy Heartt changed his life.

After 6 NST treatments, some of which treated concussions that Jimmy had experienced in the past, Jimmy was pain free for the first time in 9 years. Feeling like a new person, Jimmy has pursued new athletic challenges in his 30s, and has spent the last 4 years developing a working relationship with Dr. Trach Heartt with the aim of helping more people by working together. At J4 Performance, we believe that by working together with other like-minded professionals is how we can make the greatest positive impact on the lives of you and all our clients.
